Our Fostering Summer Event, It’s magic!
Our annual summer event at Park Foster Care took place on Saturday 15th July and can only be described as great success! It was held at a new location that allowed us to have many different indoor activities and had a great outdoor space. The weather was not entirely on our side but it did not stop anyone from having a great time.
We introduced a ‘Teen zone’ at our event, as our previous feedback had stated that there were not many activities for the teens at Park to get involved with. Reflecting upon that, our teens had their own room within the venue that allowed them to more things that interested them. They had table tennis, bean bag chairs, hand held Gameboys, a silent disco and had their own kitchen stocked with refreshments and snacks!
Even though our picnic had to be moved from outside to inside, there was plenty of space for our picnic tables to be set up in the main hall, where families were magically entertained by our Non-Stop Kidz entertainer. The children and young people also had the craft area where they were able to design and decorate their own summer caps and tote bags just in time for their summer holidays.
Some of our fabulous foster carers and staff team tapped into their impressive baking skills and packed our dessert bar with cakes, cupcakes, cookies and brownies! Everything was homemade and tasted absolutely delicious!
Don’t just take our word for it, our feedback cards were beaming with positivity; some of the comments included: “Our favourite things were having the children enjoy themselves, the outdoor and indoor activities”, “The venue gives lots of opportunity for different things in different rooms”, “My favourite experience was the teen room and the cakes!”, “Our favourite moment from the event was us catching up with other carers , decorating the caps, the outside football and the tattoos”. There’s just a few of the things our foster carers and children and young people had to say about our summer event.
The summer event was an enjoyable day filled with many different activities for everyone to get involved with ending on a high with a group conga!
